It is with great sorrow that I must inform you, our friend and classmate Kira Prechter has passed away after a battle with cancer.  We have lost some of the really good ones in the past few years, she was definitely a good one.  Please keep her beautiful son and her family in your thoughts and prayers. We’ll miss you Kira.

Obituary

Kira Marie Prechter passed away on Feb. 19, 2017. She was 46.

Memorial Services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 at Higgins Lions Community Center, 22490 E. Hacienda Drive in Grass Valley.

Kira was born on August 22, 1970 to Edward and Beverly Prechter in Grass Valley.

After graduating from Nevada Union High School in 1988, she went on to earn her Liberal Arts degree in Journalism from Oregon State University in 1993.

Kira’s proudest moment was becoming a loving mother to her son, Maddux on May 16, 2006. More than anything, Ki simply loved life. She spent her spare time exploring nature by visiting rivers and camp sites with her son. One of her most favorable adventures included a recent multi-state road trip with her son and nieces to attend her sister’s wedding in Montana, driving a convertible Camaro.

She was always willing to help her friends and family when it came to their needs in photography, graphic design (Deer Creek Productions), and general management. More importantly, her light-hearted practical jokes will be missed by many.

Kira is survived by her son, Maddux Prechter of Nevada City; father, Edward (Vickie) Prechter of Grass Valley; brother, Mark (Michelle) Prechter of Grass Valley; sister, Amy (Dusty) Perry of Bozeman, MT; and nieces, Maddie and Rylee Prechter of Grass Valley. She will also be missed by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother; Beverly Prechter; and grandparents Alice and Clyde Prechter and Doris and Bill Maddux.

Donations to the Maddux Prechter Education Fund

In lieu of flowers, the family has set up an Educational Fund for Ki’s son, Maddux. Contributions can be made to Edward Maddux Prechter, 12535 Colfax Hwy., Grass Valley, CA 95945.

A few words from Kira

“Looking back at this journey from hell and back, miserable and awful are the last two words that come to mind. The first words are love and gratitude.

Recognizing how much love was surrounding me all along is such a gift. And the gratitude I feel to everyone who has been with me through this is overwhelming. Cancer will make you feel however you let it. Why not go with the positive side? And remember when you go through hell, keep on walking”

-Ki

P.S. Never google breast cancer…
